Career

Magee got started training horses for his grandfather and driving on the Wisconsin fair circuit...He then went to Quad City Downs, where he soon became the leading driver...A broken collarbone from a Quad City spill sent him to Chicago to recuperate, and Magee decided to try the Windy City circuit when he was healed…He captured numerous driving titles at Balmoral Park, Maywood Park, Hawthorne, and Sportsman’s Park over the years…The 1994 season was the best of his career as his total of 630 victories ranked him first among all drivers in North America and earned him the Driver of the Year award from Harness Tracks of America…During the fall of 1995 Magee was chosen to represent the United States in the biennial World Driving Championship, and won that prestigious event…In 1997 Magee again competed in the World Driving Championship, finishing sixth…In 2001 he was inducted into the Living Hall of Fame in Goshen, N.Y…The 2010 season saw Magee win a trio of American-National finals at Balmoral with Wishing Stone (3CT), Springtime Volo (3FT) and Pardon (2FP).
Personal

First job was cleaning stalls for his grandfather…first car was a yellow Ford Pinto…favorite food is blackened mahi mahi…enjoys going to his children’s sporting events…has a Sheltie named Missy…favorite TV show is “24”…greatest moments in life were being elected to the Living Hall of Fame and becoming a father.
