Career
For 13 straight years (1995-2007) he finished among the top 25 money winners in the sport, though that streak ended in 2008 when he missed 4-1/2 months due to a compound fracture of his right wrist, suffered in a racing accident at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs while driving Dontloseyourdayjob…Rebounded nicely in 2009, with his total of $8,128,399 in earnings putting him in 11th place…Enjoyed a terrific 2010 campaign, with his career best purse totals of $12,613,292 ranking him second behind Tim Tetrick…Honed his skills at Monticello, then shifted north to drive in Maine and at Foxboro…In 1993 he led the Foxboro drivers’ colony in victories…In late 1994 he made the decision to move to New Jersey at the urging of longtime friend and trainer Ron Coyne… His first Meadowlands win came aboard Make Music for Coyne on opening night of the 1995 meet...In 1995 he also became the regular driver for A Stud Named Sue and Chippie’s Ruler, both divisional champions...Was the leading driver in all three categories during the winter-spring-summer meet at Meadowlands Racetrack in 2010 with 247 wins, $5,020,153 in earnings and a .316 UDR…Also was the top UDR driver (.355) at Yonkers in 2010, while finishing in a second place tie for wins and third in money…Biggest wins in 2010 came with Shark Gesture (in the William Haughton Memorial, Bettor’s Delight, Dan Patch and Graduate) and Wishing Stone (in the Kentucky Futurity and Matron)…Honored by the United States Harness Writers’ Association with its 1996 Rising Star Award and its 2010 Driver of the Year Award.
Personal
favorite food is steak and macaroni…his first job was working with horses, cleaning stalls...plays golf in his spare time, and enjoys watching the golf channel and Sportscenter…favorite TV shows are 24 and House…two of his greatest racing experiences are breaking the record for fastest mile with Holborn Hanover and winning the Yonkers Trot with Glidemaster when he filled in for John Campell at the Triple Crown… first car was a 1977 Pontiac LeMans…is motivated by his love of the game and his competitiveness; he loves competing, racing and winning…describes himself as pretty simple and laidback…the greatest moment of his life so far was the birth of his daughter Kenzie (14)
