Career

Callahan has gone from a guy who didn’t even want to jog his own father’s horses, to one of the top drivers on the Eastern seaboard…In 2009 Callahan reached the winner’s circle 426 times, and at the end of the year his lifetime total stood at 1,249. Horses he has driven since he first started driving in 2005 have earned $15,580,997…It certainly was a good year for the easygoing 31-year-old who didn’t start driving until he was 27…the highlight of his 2009 season was winning the $500,000 Hoosier Cup with Mr Wiggles...Callahan was doing double-duty last year, splitting his driving between Harrah’s Chester in Pennsylvania and Dover Downs and Harrington in Delaware..He was second in both wins and earnings during each ’09 meet at Dover.

Personal

Callahan is the son of noted trainer-driver Nick Callahan…Was an All-American hockey player at the University of Kentucky…his hobbies include golf, wakeboarding and hockey…favorite food is Maryland crabs…loves the show “Lost,” but admits he’d never watch TV without his DVR…has a black Lab named Daisy…When the clock says 11:11 or 12:12, he tries to make a wish—usually for a few wins.
