Career
Callahan has gone from a guy who didn’t even want to jog his own father’s horses, to one of the top drivers on the Eastern Seaboard…In 2010 Callahan reached the winner’s circle 505 times, and at the end of the year his lifetime total stood at 1,755. Horses he has driven since he first started driving in 2005 have earned $21,593,815…It certainly was a good year for the easygoing 32-year-old who didn’t start driving until he was 27…Callahan was doing double-duty last year, splitting his driving between Harrah’s Chester in Pennsylvania and Dover Downs and Harrington in Delaware..He was the leading driver in both wins and earnings during the ’10 winter meet at Dover…Also captured the UDR crown during the fall 2010 session at Harrington…the biggest win of his career came during the 2009 season when he captured the $500,000 Hoosier Cup with Mr Wiggles.
Personal
favorite food is pizza… his first job was sweeping the barn and cleaning stalls…he’s the son of noted driver-trainer Nick Callahan, and grew up on their horse farm… has a black Labrador Retriever, two German Shepherds, and a mutt…enjoys golfing…his greatest racing experiences are his wins two years ago with Mr. Wiggles, including the North America Cup and the Breeders Crown...he grew up playing sports, and is motivated by winning…savors the thrill of victory…notes that he didn’t start driving until the age of 25 because he went to college and tried working a “real job” to please his dad…the birth of his little girl Ceira (3 months old) was a “lifechanging experience”…spends most of his free time with his family
