Career

Although he has operated a highly successful stable in Ontario for years, Ben Wallace was largely unknown throughout harness racing circles outside the province prior to the 1999 season, but that all changed thanks to an outstanding campaign with 3-year-old pacing colt Blissfull Hall, who was voted Horse of the Year in Canada and Pacer of the Year in the Dan Patch Award balloting…The Cambest speedball banked $1,326,819 and became just the ninth pacer in the history of the sport to win the Triple Crown…Worked for the late Bill Wellwood…In 1996 his season’s earnings passed the $1 million mark for the first time and he was voted the Ontario Jockey Club’s Trainer of the Year…Enjoyed solid 1997 and 1998 campaigns thanks to the pacing filly Armbro Rosebud, an O’Brien Award winner in 1997 as Canada’s 2-year-old filly pacer of the year…Also trained 2000 Windy City Pace champion Camotion…In recent years the pacing gelding Zooka has been his leading charge, banking more than $100,000 in each of his five campaigns on the racetrack, while ringing up more than $1.1 million lifetime.

Ben’s favorite food is rack of lamb…first car was a Ford Falcon…first job was a paperboy…enjoys following politics…favorite hobby is sleeping…greatest racing experience was winning the Triple Crown with Blissfull Hall…says he motivated by “trying to find another Blissfull Hall.”
