Career

McIntosh was a 2010 inductee to the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame…He also is a member of the U.S. Harness Racing Hall of Fame…McIntosh’s stable in 2010 exceeded $3 million in purses for the 15th time in the last 19 years… Strike An Attitude won divisions of the Bluegrass and International Stallion stakes and was second in the Breeders Crown and Three Diamonds…Text Me won the Ontario Sire Stakes Super Final for 3-year-old male trotters and Lauren was a multiple OSS Gold Final winner…McIntosh’s first career win came with Brilliant Bonnie in 1977 at Windsor Raceway…Has been named Canadian Trainer of the Year an unprecedented seven times...He also garnered the Canadian Horseman of the Year award in 1993 after leading Staying Together to Horse of the Year honors in both the U.S. and Canada…That marked the second straight year a McIntosh charge swept Horse of the Year honors, as Artsplace also turned the trick in 1992…Another star of the McIntosh Stable was Artiscape, a 1998 Dan Patch Award winner in the U.S. and an O’Brien Award winner in Canada…Among McIntosh’s other top horses over the past several years were divisional champions Delinquent Account, So Fresh, Island Fantasy, Mattaroni, and Western Shooter, along with Camluck, Stonebridge Regal, Cash Hall, Ponder and Windsong Soprano…Awarded the Glen Garnsey Trainer of the Year title in 1992 and 2001 by the U.S. Harness Writers Association…Won the Johnston Cup as the leading trainer in the Ontario Sires Stakes six times, including 2008 through 2010...Is the leading trainer in Breeders Crown history with 15 trophies.
Personal has a Golden Retriever, a Boxer, and a Jack Russell…favorite meal is a turkey dinner…motivated by his love for horses and the business, and the excitement of seeing young horses grow and develop…first and “only” job was working for his brother Doug, grooming horses…favorite shows are House and The Big Bang Theory…he and his wife have been to Paris twice and really enjoyed the “adventure”…in his spare time likes to fish and do photography, especially at sporting events and while traveling…is actually a very shy person and had to grow accustomed to talking to lots of people, but is happiest when with his horses and dogs…greatest racing moment was winning the Breeders Crown with Artiscape

Bob was raised in the business and started working for his brother Doug’s stable when he was 19 years old…Just five years later Bob ventured out on his own and developed his own stable.. his favorite food is turkey… his first car was a 1964 Chevrolet Biscayne…favorite thing to do away from racing is go to a Detroit Tigers game…has a Boxer dog as a pet…is an accomplished photographer, and would do that as a career if he was not in racing…his favorite show is “House”…father of two sons, Rob and Sean.
