Career

Lachance’s training stable surpassed $2 million in 2010 for the fifth time in his career…He also topped $2 million as a driver for the fourth consecutive campaign…Hula’s Z Tam was a multiple winner on the New York Sire Stakes circuit and finished second in the Empire Breeders Classic for 3-year-old filly pacers…Sir Ziggy’s Z Tam was second in the NYSS championship for 2-year-old male pacers and Best Boss was second in the Kentucky Sire Stakes final for 3-year-old filly pacers…As the son of Hall of Fame driver Mike Lachance and the cousin of Luc Ouellette, Lachance has continued his family’s tradition of success…Traded in a potential hockey career for training and driving Standardbreds…After finishing high school, he worked for prominent trainer Bob McIntosh before going on his own at Monticello Raceway…He moved into training younger horses, including Wordly Beauty, a Dan Patch Award winner at 2 and 3 and a winner of more than $1.9 million…Another top trainee was the pacing gelding Casimir Camotion, who won 13 times as a 4-year-old in 2004 and cashed $705,420 in checks…Lachance pupils have banked more than $1 million in each campaign since 2000…In 2004, he received the United States Harness Writers’ Association’s Rising Star Award.
