Career

Seekman has been one of the top trainers in the Midwest for many years and in recent seasons has also campaigned a successful stable on the Grand Circuit…Art Official won the 2008 Meadowlands Pace with a classic upset of eventual Horse of the Year Somebeachsomewhere and returned in 2009 to win the Indiana Pacing Derby and hit the board in the Breeders Crown, Ben Franklin Pace, American-National and Dan Patch Invitational…Art Official earned nearly $500,000 in 2009 and pushed his career earnings to $2 million…In 2008, Art Official won the Cane Pace and Hoosier Cup in addition to the Meadowlands Pace…Seekman gained the national spotlight in 2003 as the trainer of Kikikatie, the Dan Patch Award winner as the sport’s top 2-year-old pacing filly…She came back as a 3-year-old to win the Mistletoe Shalee and American-National and banked $1.2 million lifetime…Another leading pupil in recent years was 2007 Windy City Pace champion Booze Cruzin, who is still active and has cashed more than $700,000 in checks...Freshman pacing filly Modern Connection enjoyed a solid campaign for Seekman in 2010, winning the Ontario Sire Stakes Super Final on her way to cashing $446,352 in season’s earnings…Other top horses in recent seasons include Beachy Girl, Cabana Fever, Gold Dust Beach, Three Olives, Genuine Lady and Annieswesterncard. Seekman’s son, Travis, is embarking on a career as a driver in the Midwest.
Personal favorite food is pizza…first car was a Dodge pickup…has been working with horses since he got out of high school…his favorite thing to do is go away with his family, often camping or on a cruise…he has two sons, Travis (20) and Jarrod (17)…owns two chocolate labs…winning at Meadowlands Downs in 2008…is motivated by winning big races…enjoys watching Grey’s Anatomy…the greatest moment of his life was his wedding…spends free time on the internet reading about horses…
