Career

The highlight of Daley’s 2010 campaign came when Impressive Kemp won the Breeders Crown for 3-year-old filly trotters…He also had highly regarded 2-year-old colt trotter Broad Bahn, who won his Breeders Crown elimination but missed the final because of injury…Daley’s stable surpassed $2 million for the eighth consecutive year in 2010 and for the 10th time in the last 11 seasons…Daley is one of the many Australian-born trainers who have enjoyed great success since moving to North America… He first settled in California, racing at Los Alamitos, and then shipped east in 1990 to work as a groom for Brett Pelling…Enjoyed much success as the Pelling Stable dominated the Meadowlands in the 1990s, winning the training title six times…Went out on his own in 1998 and captured the training title at the Meadowlands in 2003…His greatest success story has been the trotting gelding Mr Muscleman, a three-time Dan Patch Award winner and the 2005 Trotter of the Year…Some of the other top performers Daley has conditioned include two-time Dan Patch Award winner My Little Dragon (2005 and 2008), Little Miss Dragon, Explosive Matter, and All Speed Hanover…His pupils banked a career-best $4.2 million in 2008, led by Yonkers Trot champion Napoleon.

favorite food is ice cream…loves going out to different restaurants…has had a lot of dogs, but favorite pet is a Jack Russell terrier…favorite show is American Idol…is motivated because he loves what he does…greatest moment in racing was winning his first Breeders Crown with Mr. Muscleman…claims he has no life apart from horses…favorite movie is Good Will Hunting
Grew up in Mt. Isa, where he worked for Qantas Airlines…nickname is “Oz” due to his Australian heritage…favorite food is sushi…first car was a 1968 pick-up…favorite TV show is “American Idol”…loves any book by W.E.B Griffin…favorite movie is “Good Will Hunting”…describes himself as “pretty boring”…has four dogs…is proudest of helping other trainers get their start in the racing business.
